Aster Boese 8a20eab2fc linux-samsung-j4lte: build with gcc6 
Part of the wider effort to switch downstream kernels away from the regular
gcc package. While it would be best to switch this kernel to use LLVM,
gcc6 is the best option to prevent runtime breakages and still keep the
process of switching easy. If the maintainer wishes, they can try porting
this package to use LLVM later.

Aster Boese 61a654a10e lenovo-21bx: use zstd for initramfs compression 
zstd is faster to decompress than gzip and will soon
become the default compression algorithm for the initfs,
so might as well take advantage of it early.

The default compression is used because it results in
practically the same binary size as gzip (both create
initramfs binaries that are 30M and zstd:fast adds
a megabyte, which should be avoided). This change is
mostly for the decompression speed benefits.

Aster Boese 4a0c3182d6 temp/libx86emu-dummy: new aport 
libx86emu only exists on x86 and x86_64. Because of this, the
hwinfo APKBUILD has to use conditional dependencies to install
it when it is available. pmbootstrap doesn't have support for
this logic currently, so creating a dummy, empty package for
arches that doesn't have it works.

Aster Boese 27cc010dbf temp/eudev: fork from Alpine to remove /sbin/udevadm symlink 
The presence of udevadm in both /bin/ and /sbin/ causes usr-merge to assume
a binary conflict and fail. I actually tried fixing this issue upstream quite
a few months ago to fix an unrelated issue I was having with the package, but
it was rejected. Therefore, this can only be handled downstream.

Aster Boese a191ecb63d treewide: remove asound.state 
asound.state is a lock file for the current system
state of alsa. It gets written by alsa-restore and
thus should not be part of packaging, as the
updates will never apply cleanly over a constantly
updating state file.

Aster Boese 1c12db10d3 main/devicepkg-dev: add logic for downstream kernels without _config 
The git version of pmbootstrap generates kernels without _config.
Because devicepkg-dev expects this variable, it should be set to
what pmbootstrap has replaced the variable with unless the
variable is manually set.

With the last device using grub having been

Aster Boese ddb8849070 cross/grub-*: remove 
No unarchived devices in pmaports edge use grub, instead
opting to use systemd-boot. Because of this, there is no
reason to keep the grub cross packages on edge. This
should *not* be backported to stable, as devices still
make use of grub there.

Aster Boese 1f1a7e5744 firmware-asus-s5507q: depend on the host package in subpackages 
The subpackages install the mkinitfs configs, but these configs require the
files to exist. Thus, depend upon the host package to have these files. The
files are not moved to the subpackages because every file is used by the
mkinitfs configs, so the packages would end up with duplicate firmware files.

Aster Boese 011d7f645e gigaset-gs290: unarchive and rename 
Unarchives the 'volla-yggdrasil' device, along with its kernel, and renames
the device package to match the ODM name of the device. This name is used by
most projects (with the exception of Ubuntu Touch) for this device.

The kernel is upgraded from v6.1-rc5 to v6.8. The plan was to upgrade it
further, but 6.9-rc1 introduces a bootloop that I don't have the means to
debug at the moment. Thus, reintroduce the kernel at the newest working
version and it will be upgraded in a separate MR once the bootloop is
figured out.

himax_hx83112b is added to the initramfs and enabled in the kernel in
preparation for its enablement in the device tree.

Aster Boese 87944555f6 kconfigcheck: version gate BPF 
DEBUG_INFO_DWARF5 conflicts with DEBUG_INFO_BTF on kernel versions older than
5.18. Because debugging failures with DWARF4 would be a waste of time on such
old kernel versions, it is better to just version gate BTF to only support
kernels that can use it with DWARF5.

Aster Boese 53bba14859 linux-samsung-m20lte: build with gcc6 
Part of the wider effort to switch downstream kernels away from the regular
gcc package. While it would be best to switch this kernel to use LLVM,
gcc6 is the best option to prevent runtime breakages and still keep the
process of switching easy. If the maintainer wishes, they can try porting
this package to use LLVM later.

Currently, loading the a630 firmware files fails in the iniramfs
when the display is manually configured. This firmware is loaded
once the rootfs is loaded and the gpu is polled, but the error
messages clog the early boot logs and can make parsing them much
harder. Because of this, and because these devices don't have an
issue with bootimg size, including the firmware is a QOL change.

Aster Boese 58a9d9dbf3 kconfigcheck: add zstd initramfs decompression support to category:default 
Per the discussion https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/work_items/4087, zstd is going to
become the default compression algorithm for the initramfs, with only devices using kernels older than 5.1.0
expected to use gzip. Because of this, adding this config to the default category early ensures that the
eventual migration requires less changes.

Aster Boese 28962d7fdf main/postmarketos-base-ui: add tmpfiles.d config for alsa-utils 
alsa-utils tries creating /run/lock/asound.state.lock, but, since /run/ is a tmpfs, that path
does not exist in packaging. It is expected that this path is created at runtime, but systemd
does not because systemd considers /run/lock/ to be a legacy path and locks creating it behind
its legacy sysv compat. Because we cannot enable sysv compat and cannot patch systemd to still
allow /run/lock/ in its regular tmpfiles.d config, creating a custom config is the best
solution.

This is not in a systemd subpackage because OpenRC installs can also use tmpfiles.d and
discussion in abuild came to the conclusion that tmpfiles.d configs should stay in the regular
packaging and not go into a subpackage.

Aster Boese 60545412b2 treewide: device/community: remove usage of nonfree-firmware subpackages 
pkgname-nonfree-firmware packages have been not allowed for years, but nearly
every device package just didn't fix that. With the new grep check, these need
to be fixed no matter what.

The changing of `replaces=` to include the full name of the package and not
the pkgname variable is to work around limitations of the grep ci check, as it
cannot differentiate between a nonfree-firmware subpackage and a string
stating its replacement. A workaround for that is to use the whole package
name, as the grep check checks for the pkgname variable.
